Welcome to the 2019 TDR 1000!
We have reached the halfway mark in the championship, and the majestic Toyota 1000 Desert Race, the only marathon event on the SACCS calendar and the largest Cross Country event in Southern Africa breaks new ground with the event relocating from the small mining town of Jwaneng to the more populous town of Selebi Phikwe.
Commonly known as Phikwe this bustling town is situated in Eastern Botswana and strategically placed as the gateway to the Northern Regions.
New events invariably offer new challenges however, we are delighted that our longstanding relationship with BTO, BPS, SARS, BURS, BMS and the communities and people of Botswana has again done us proud.
A fresh challenge awaits competitors when they tackle the gruelling 1000 kilometres of the 2019 TDR 1000.
The route has been finalised, spectator points co-ordinated by Botswana Tourism Organisation have been identified, VIP facilities for our host country Botswana and our event sponsor Toyota are in place and as always, the Botswana Police Services are one hundred percent on ready to ensure our safe passage.
We have also enjoyed tremendous support from the Selebi Phikwe Economic Development Unit (SPEDU) and the Selebi Phikwe Town Council.
